New cycle lane white plastic stick 'wands' covered in road grime

Reported anonymously at 23:30, Sun 24 October 2021

A segregated cycle lane, with white plastic sticks 'wands' was installed about a year ago, on Bromley Rd, Shortlands, between Shortlands Station and Albemarle Rd junction - the Beckenham-bound lane. The visibility of the white plastic / reflective sticks is reduced, in my estimation, at night, to the naked eye, by around 90%. The road grime makes the sticks grey and they are 'camouflaged' against the grey tarmac background. They should be easily visible to cyclists and motor vehicle users alike, including in the evening and at night time. The grime also makes the sticks unsightly. This is also in the Shortlands Village Conservation Area whose appearance should be 'conserved and enhanced' Please either clean the white stick 'wands' now and on a regular basis. Alternatively please remove the white sticks altogether. Please also check the similar cycle lane 'wands' for grime in Albemarle Rd and Crystal Palace Park Rd and any other installations in the borough. Thank you.
