Refuge bollard at crossing next to Croydon Road rec damaged

Reported anonymously at 22:44, Tue 14 June 2022

At 6.30am on Monday 6 June a car collided with the refuge bollard and veered on to the pavement outside 350/352 Croydon Road. My neighbour's wall at 352 was completely destroyed and it was lucky it was so early and no pedestrians were around - there would likely have been a fatality. This is not the first time that the bollard has been struck, usually by a car travelling too fast. This crossing serves people going to and from the recreation ground and to Balgowan School at the end of Belmont Road, and it's dangerous because cars are frequently travelling too fast. It's time we had traffic calming measures such as a flashing sign on this stretch of Croydon Road to remind drivers of the 30mph limit, to increase safety and reduce noise. The bollard itself hasn't been fixed and it's now over a week. The lighting of the refuge should be improved at the very least.
