I’m disappointed that the bridge has not yet been repaired, the pond and gardens in the Priory are well maintained and now there are events being held in the park, yet the bridge has been out of action for almost SIX MONTHS! There was a shopping trolley in the pond yesterday, which due to its location, looked as if it had been pushed off of the bridge where the handrail is missing! Please can something be done about this? The Priory is a beautiful park and deserves a little TLC!

There has been a temporary fix so that the bridge is useable, however I hope the metal railing panels are not going to be a permanent feature!

While the required investigation, insurance and procurement processes for Priory Bridge have been undertaken a property assessment of the bridge from a structural perspective was also conducted which required the complete closure of the bridge. We are pleased to say we have now finalised our options and plan to replace the balustrades with a more substantial replacement to match the existing metal boundary fencing of Priory Park which will be able to withstand the attentions of our local vandals for years to come. I can confirm that the order for the replacement of the Priory Bridge has been placed and our contractors inform us that works will be undertaken within the next 4-6 weeks.
