24 inch pothole
Reported in the Road and Pavement Issues category anonymously at 20:43, Sat 12 January 2019
Sent to Bromley Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1511083.
A large part of the pavement has not been tarmacked where a tree had possibly been. On the 12/01/19 at 18:05 my right foot went into the deep hole twisting my right ankle causing me to fall. I have injured my left knee, right ankle, right elbow and left hand. I have a witness that I will contact if necessary to prove my accident. My right sleeve on my Berghaus coat has damage and a hole. My Timberland boots have deep marks. Please get this hole filled before anyone else, particularly anyone old hurts themselves. Then please advise me on how to claim for compensation. I will continue to take more photos of my injuries as I expect more bruising tomorrow.

My injuries to my knee and ankle are still painful despite being prescribed strong anti inflammatory drugs. My ankle has swelling the size of half of a golf ball. I still have a sharp stabbing pain in my knee. Apparently I have internal bruising. I’m trying to keep active but my movement isn’t good.
While your email response was quick, the pavement is exactly in the same state as it was 6 days ago with the exception of a plastic barrier around it. It’s a terrible situation that the council are spending huge amounts of money altering the West Wickham pool junction that really doesn’t need changing yet you won’t use the funds in better areas such as pavements.
I have received your claim form. I won’t be returning it until I am better. My doctor has asked me to return if I have no improvement approximately 2 weeks from the accident.

A month and a half later, the empty tree pit remains and two cones have become a permanent fixture on the street. Is there any danger of something happening here, preferably a new tree being planted. We all await with bated breath.
