Trees being removed unnecessarily and not replaced
Reported in the Public Trees category anonymously at 10:31, Tue 7 January 2020
Sent to Bromley Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1923027.
Last year several trees were cut down on Station Approach at St Mary Cray.
It was not clear why this was necessary as from the trunk sections it was clear that these were not rotten or diseased. They have not been replaced. There are now TWO MORE healthy trees marked with orange crosses - presumably for indicating removal of trees - however the only issue that could be found it their proximity to the boundary fence to the pavement. As these are slow growing trees and their main trunks are already grown and will not expand outwards within the next 30 years to impact the fence, destroying these mature trees seems disproportionate and misconceived. Especially since the trees on this road are literally the only nice thing about it and they are being removed Year by year but not replaced. This is especially bad as their root structures are integral to holding the embankment together. Can the council investigate whether the contractors are marking these trees unnecessarily? And if last years destroyed trees will be replaced (and the saplings well protected)
