Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Tree Cutting In Well Wood (Coney Hall, Bromey)
I walk my dogs in Well Wood (Coney Hall) two or three times a day and as such I spend a lot of time there. It's an important place for our community and the neighbourhood is a better place for having access to the woods and a place to meet. However, following the recent tree cutting, access to the woods has become very restricted. The tree cutting company has now left and collected the last of their logs but they haven't cleared up their mess and many of the paths are unusable. There are cut branches left all over the paths, cracked logs (that they obviously didn't want) just thrown aside and the tracks left by the tractors are over half a meter deep in places, it has become a dangerous place to walk and my wife recently twisted her ankle while walking along one of the severely damaged paths.
I find what has happened unacceptable. A company has come in and taken what they want and run away before they've made the area safe. They took the last of the logs this morning (although there are many other logs they haven't bothered to collect, left to rot in the woods) and left litter and even more muddy tracks. Firstly, I suggest you don't pay their bill until they come back and fix the damage they've left. Secondly, who was overseeing their work? It's been a mess from the start but people mostly overlooked it because we thought they'd tidy up before they left. Lastly, when is the area going to be made safe for the public to use. I can supply you with pictures of the most dangerous areas is you require them.
Looking forward to your reply, Andy Smith. (andy@mile141.co.uk)
