Verge cutting destroying pollinating plants
Reported in the Road and Pavement Issues category anonymously at 13:40, Sun 7 June 2020
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2145498.
Verges cut in Chestnut Avenue, where I had numerous (at least a dozen) different wildflowers growing for bees and other pollinating insects outside my house. Now it’s all dead straw. This is just a few days since the lovely cooling long grass and wildflowers that we’re waving in the breeze all along Kent Gateway/Addington Road, were also mown down. Please don’t cut the grasses and wildflowers right on the middle of summer when the insects need them most. It will save money for the council and provide vital habitats for the wildlife we all rely on and enjoy.
