No lamp/light on top of the post

Reported via mobile in the Street Lighting and Road Signs category anonymously at 07:34, Fri 2 July 2021

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

The Lampost was damaged in January 2021 after a car ran into it. A new pole was put in place a short time afterwards due to the considerable damage, but it sits there without a lamp on top. This street lamp is right on the approach to the fairly sharp bend as Melody Road meets Sunningvale Avenue. With this street lamp not working, it is making this part of the road very dark. Would appreciate if this could be looked into please, thank you.

  • You can see the black patch where the old Lampost was removed. A new Lampost was installed but as you can see from the photo there is no lamp on the top of it. This Lampost is directly in front of my house (118A Sunningvale Avenue) and has been like this for a few months. Please could this be addressed as it makes thus part of the road very dark at night, thank you.

  • Just to confirm that this street lamp is still to be reinstated, still has no actual lamp. This is now 9 months since the original lampost was damaged in an accident - this cannot be acceptable & the contractor should be held to account.

  • I was the original person to raise this issue back in July. I can now see that someone else has now raised concern as well. It is now almost 1 year (Jan) since the accident date. I am aware at the end of September, a contractor arrived and appeared to re-wire the lamp post itself, I presume ready to connect to the lamp on top, however that did not happen! Now the clocks have changed it is so dark on this stretch of the road as there is not another lamp post on the opposite side. This is now making people feel very uncomfortable when walking and is an accident waiting to happen with the traffic as this is near a very busy bend in the road. Please can this be treated as urgent please. We just need the lamp on top and working please 🙏

  • We have investigated and identified there is an issue with the electricity supply for this asset. Bromley Council have contacted UK Power Networks and asked them to schedule works to restore this fault.

  • Thank you for the update, i would also suggest that another main issue would be the lack of a light at the top of the post - what is being done about that?

  • Can someone please update this issue - nothing has changed and this is a very dark section of pavement making it unsafe to walk along on these dark evenings.
