Previous Enquiry ref: 2841184 1 Edith Road, Chelsfield BR6 6JQ

Reported via iOS in the Road, Pavement and PROW Issues category anonymously at 08:39, Wednesday 6 October 2021

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

Please see previous report under above Enquiry number. Returned from holiday to find 2 posts erected in very bad way (see photos). One outside my neighbours property which wasn’t part of the problem. Post outside my property does not solve original problem of water filling up hole and difficult walking on pavement when rest of pavement full of water . In addition now difficult reversing into road with post there especially as houses opposite are Victorian terrace houses and cars outside all of time. Would be helpful if someone could contact us and see the whole picture.

  • Posts were installed at this location to prevent vehicular override of the public highway and verge causing damage and potential safety issues for pedestrians as a result. The vehicle crossover at this location is already at the maximum extent permitted for a residential area under Bromley's Vehicle Crossover Policy and no further action will be taken in regard to this. A site visit will be undertaken to check the contractor's workmanship with the post installation and the ponding will be monitored.

Any further issues with the footway can be reported to us as a new report via:

  • I refer AGAIN to my previous reports under Reference : 2841184. This situation has still NOT been resolved. In fact I now wish I had not contacted you in the first place as.the original problem (broken paving stone and hole where water sits and causes disruption for pedestrians trying to pass) is still there as has been demonstrated by the recent rain downfalls have proved. You put two posts in which cause more problems than the original one. The second post outside my neighbours garage entrance/exit (they are on the corner of Warren Road and Edith Road) is of no use whatsoever (neither of them are) and we would prefer them to be taken down to make it easier to access our drive. We have 2 cars and in a narrow road where there is parking all the time opposite our drive it is quite dangerous at times getting in and out with the post there. There has never been a problem with vehicles driving onto the pavement except for the original damage when a previous neighbour had a Ford Ranger with a trailer and he accessed his drive reversing in and out every day and because of the narrowness of the road had to drive over the offending square of grass. He left in January but if he still lived there he would not be able to get past the post to go to work!!! Therefore, there is no problem from traffic mounting the pavement. You say someone has been to see the shoddy workmanship of the 2 posts but I cannot imagine they would have passed the work as satisfactory. IS IT AT ALL POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE PERSONAL CONTACT WITH US PLEASE either at the above address or by telephone on 01689 331085. Thank you. Pamela Towl
