Reported via desktop in the Parks and Greenspace category anonymously at 15:09, Thu 7 October 2021
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3048291.
Tree is pushing against fence as it grows, pulling fence panels from post and exposing private property. Fence is boundary of Dunkery Road sports ground. (Exact house number can be supplied). It’s an ongoing issue since the tree is right against the boundary.

The tree described above is in the section of the Dunkery Road sports field behind my property (32 Grace Close). Although my property is in Lewisham Borough, the fence and tree concerned are the responsibility of Bromley Borough. If the condition deteriorates further and the fence falls down eg in a storm, my property will be exposed. The ideal solution would be to remove the tree,

Tree contractors called today 10 Feb 22 & had to gain access through house as they could find no way in from playing field. They pruned the lower branches of the tree. Unfortunately and inevitably, this has done nothing to solve the problem. The tree trunk is still pressing against the fence and it is still hanging on by one attachment, as seen in original photo. The best solution would be.to cut down the tree and then repair the fence. Your advice on further action would be appreciated.

If you believe a Council-maintained tree is causing damage to your property you will need to complete a claim form. Bromley currently have a shared Insurance Service with Sutton Council and an online claim form can be completed and submitted via Sutton’s website: https://www.sutton.gov.uk/ info/ 200436/ customer_services/ 1146/ insurance_service/ 2

I am surprised that the matter is considered Closed. As recorded above, the situation is unchanged, apart from some light pruning of the tree - welcome but not the main substance of the issue. The tree remains in place on Bromley Council land. It’s trunk is still leaning against the fence, and as pictured above is damaging the fence which forms a garden boundary to this property. The reference to the insurance policy shared with Sutton Council is not relevant. The property being damaged is the Bromley Council fencing. If it splits any more it will render my property insecure. A further look at this problem is requested. Thank you.
