New mini roundabout work
Reported via desktop in the Road, Pavement and PROW Issues category by Nicholas Hickson at 09:57, Fri 15 October 2021
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3063840.
Alterations to this junction have been long ongoing and now after all that we have a dangerous protruding new pavement on the Library side at the mini roundabout. This is noticeable when driving South from Hayes St into Baston Rd. One has to be vary careful not to collide with this new jutting out pavement edge at this point and could catch out the unwary. It seems to me totally unnecessary and is a permanent hazard to all motorists. In addition is anything going to be done to repair the road surface of the road and the ''hump' forming this roundabout.. All of this is an unforgivable waste of money bearing in mind the number of potholes or 3rd world road surfaces near Biggin Hill onwards to Westerham.

This report has been referred to our Traffic Management Team who are responsible for the way traffic is managed on Bromley's roads; including, but not limited to, implementing new road markings and signage in relation to road safety and parking; walking and cycling improvements, including identifying locations for new cycle racks and installing Vehicle Activated speed signs - however, please note that responsibility for enforcing speed limits rests with the Police.
Where requests are made for changes, our Traffic Management Team will consider all requests but often there is a need for a full investigation, planning and consultation within the local area particularly around proposed new traffic schemes, and any considerations must be balanced with borough-wide priorities. This report is now closed on FixMyStreet and our Traffic Management Team will consider this matter.State changed to: Internal referral

Thank you for your recent report on Fix My Street in relation to the new road lay out in Hayes village, in particular the roundabout at the junction of Hayes Street and Pickhurst Lane.
The scheme itself is not yet complete, with highway resurfacing and new line marking still due to take place. Unfortunately, this process has been delayed due to a national shortage of required materials.
Our traffic engineering team are looking at the issue you mention as a matter of urgency, to see what temporary measures can be taken in the meantime.

I see the "temporary" fixes is to paint white lines on the road, There are two main issues, firstly the raised roundabout is in the wrong place and should be flattened at the very least, and secondly the kink in the pavement outside the library is invisible at night and should have bollards or some other warning there. Currently bits of a car which clearly hit the high kerb last night there. This is a terrible piece of "engineering" and needs to be fixed as a high priority
