Private dead tree potential hazard to footpath users, 30 Avenue Rd Penge
Reported via desktop in the Road, Pavement and PROW Issues category anonymously at 16:09, Wed 8 December 2021
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3167880.
I am concerned that a substantial dead tree in a private front garden, leaning on a low wall, and with obvious bracket fungus, may suddenly break and fall on an unwitting pedestrian, including children passing by at the junction of Avenue Rd and Chesham Rd. The dead tree trunk is about 8 feet tall, with a diameter of about a foot, so a substantial weight. It is leaning towards and over the public footway. From experience I know of a dead allotment tree that did suddenly fall and destroy a shed. Other items in the news have been collapsing damaged walls and fractured lamp columns killing people. This may be under the legal concept 'injurious affection'. Please contact the householder to take action to remove this potential threat to pedestrians using the public footway.

Photos added 5.1.22 Thanks to the council for contacting the property owner - however no action has been taken to date when clearly urgent action is needed to safeguard the public, including passing elderly persons and children. This dead tree with bracket fungus could break and fall without warning causing serious injury or worse. Felling would be quick - however if no action is imminent, please cordon off the pavement.
