Orchard Road ---junk left on street swept into drains and now causing blockage and damage to property.
Reported via desktop in the Street Cleansing category anonymously at 09:19, Sun 26 December 2021
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3198753.
People drop litter, cans bottles etc on street which is washed into drains. The Council refuses to clear, when it rains the water over flows on the pavement and backs up my drains. Thames Water have attended and say it is a Council issue. Bromley for once accept your responsibility and stop passing the buck.

Thank you for your report. The road is maintained regularly on the cleansing schedule with the footpath being attended weekly on a Thursday and the carriageway monthly - next due 29th January 2022. The gullies between numbers 21-29 were attended by our drainage contractor in November, who advised that there were no blockages and Bromley assets were running freely. Reports have been submitted to Thames Water to check their main line for any blockages. Small items of litter will be washed down the drains in rainfall which should not present issues with the gully function and larger items of litter trapped by the gully grate and collected on the scheduled clean by either the mechanical sweeper or a litter pick.

Thames Water have been to Orchard Road at the end of October and Boxing Day when they cleared two major blockages by the roundabout with Plaistow Lane.
Having lived on the road over 30 years this is the first time I have know such blockages. Once again I question if the Council contractors during resurfacing in the late summer either damaged the sewers or dropper rubble, tarmac into them. On some of the gullies by the pavements the rain water has to flow up hill to access the drains. The camber of the surface is not correct.
