Hazardous Road markings

Reported via desktop in the Road, Pavement and PROW Issues category anonymously at 12:41, Monday 3 January 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

Following the recent collision on Monks Orchard Road (cause unknown to me), I would like to point out the hazardous road markings which run the length of this road simply because I may need a reference number in the future. Due to cars parked along this road I am forced, on a daily basis, to straddle the central white line, when heading in a southerly direction, in order to make progress along this road. This puts myself and other road users in danger. When heading in a northerly direction the cycle lane is mute as it must be driven on in order to not collide with vehicle coming from the other direction. This puts cyclists in danger of being struck from behind. Thank you for your attention and report number.

  • This report has been referred to our Traffic Management Team who are responsible for the way traffic is managed on Bromley's roads; including, but not limited to, implementing new road markings and signage in relation to road safety and parking; walking and cycling improvements, including identifying locations for new cycle racks and installing Vehicle Activated speed signs - however, please note that responsibility for enforcing speed limits rests with the Police.

Where requests are made for changes, our Traffic Management Team will consider all requests but often there is a need for a full investigation, planning and consultation within the local area particularly around proposed new traffic schemes, and any considerations must be balanced with borough-wide priorities. This report is now closed on FixMyStreet and our Traffic Management Team will consider this matter.
