Tree has not been replaced for several years in spite of me reporting it over many years and being promised it would be done.

Reported via desktop in the Public Trees category anonymously at 13:18, Tuesday 4 January 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

This tree has been down since at least 2014 and I have been complaining about it and asking for it to be replaced. You keep promising to do this, but so far have not done so. This year you are saying you are going to put many trees in. I am asking once again for this to be done urgently. I am now 83, and very ill want to see this has been done before I leave this earth. I was given a ref no. several years ago which I think is CRM 964510. Could you make sure this is the first tree to get your attention this year. Thank you, Pauline Clift.

  • I don't understand this. The cable must have been there before and I am sure another tree can be planted without touching the cable. which does not take up a lot of room. failing that the tree position could be moved a little. I don't think any new cable has been laid since the tree came down. I think this is just an excuse, one of your many over the years. I would still like this tree replaced. Thank you for your help, your faithfull ratepayer, Pauline.

  • I am sorry that it is not possible to reinstate the old tree pit due to BT cable running through the bottom of the pit.

If a tree was planted and BT required access to the cable for ongoing maintenance purposes at a later date, the poor tree would sadly have to be removed.

Trees are living dynamic organisms and it is not possible to lift and move them once planted without causing detrimental damage to rooting environment which affects the vitality of the tree especially if it is actively in leaf, photosynthesising energy for itself.

It is not possible to have the cable moved without affecting other underground services running underneath the pavement.

I am sorry on this occasion we are unable to full fill the request made of us.
