Re: Left and right pavement dropdowns require attention please.

Reported via desktop in the Road, Pavement and PROW Issues category anonymously at 13:47, Tuesday 19 April 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

Please could the left and right pavement dropdowns that are each side of the School entrance be given a small amount of tarmac, making a smooth run-up so as to enable prams, pushchairs and scooters to more easily/smoothly roll across them as the slightly raised kerbs have caused a number of falls, even recently causing a very small child to fall forwards out of a buggy. Thank you so much. (Your similar attention carried out last year to the pavement dropdowns for crossing Old Tye Avenue outside the school have made a tremendous difference to the children, parents and carers - again, very many thanks).

  • Please note that this matter cannot be simply closed down until the problem has been rectified. The situation is that accidents are occurring, another one involving a child on a scooter yesterday morning, very unnecessary when all that is needed is a small slither of tarmac. The problem is that the left and right pavement dropdowns that are each side of the School entrance driveway are raised by an inch or so, and this is just enough to cause a hazard. Both sides' dropdowns need to be given a small amount of tarmac, making a smooth run-up so as to enable prams, pushchairs and scooters to more easily and smoothly roll across them. As they are at present (unfixed) these slightly raised dropdown kerbs have caused a number of falls, for example about a month ago the right-hand dropdown caused a very small child to fall forwards out of a buggy. Thank you so much, in advance. (Your similar attention that was kindly carried out last year to the pavement dropdowns used for crossing Old Tye Avenue itself, outside the school, have made a tremendous difference to the children, parents and carers - again, very many thanks). Please note that the solution currently required will take very little time to fix and will only use such a very small amount of tarmac.

  • I regret that this has not yet been fixed, however I have noted there are white spray markings on the affected kerbstones and so it seems that the matter is now in hand and should shortly be resolved. Thank you in advance.
