Subsidence caused by large council trees
Reported via desktop in the Public Trees category anonymously at 14:42, Mon 25 April 2022
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3481593.
The two council trees outside of our property have caused severe subsidence issues and leafing issues. Our insurer Crawford has identified the trees are the cause of subsidence and requested the council to cut down the trees. However, this hasn't been actioned on and we can see our property (ground flat) and upstairs neighbor's flat have been deteriorating over the years.

Thank you for your update. An email was sent to you in response to this enquiry on 04/05/2022, the email now has been re-sent.
You have contacted us to claim that a tree owned by the London Borough of Bromley is causing subsidence to your property. Subsidence can be caused by a number of factors, so legally you will need to provide evidence that it is this identified tree that is causing the movement.
We recommend that you seek professional help through, your home insurance company to identify the reason behind the subsidence, and if the cause is proven to be related, please contact us again.

Hi,
I want to report a recent/urgent update - due to the extremely dry and hot weather recently, the subsidence situation has exacerbated, our rear room door's door frame has changed shape so much we are no longer able to close it, this causes potential burglary risk to our property. Please look into our case urgently and if there is any information that you need, we are more than happy to provide.
Kind regards, Beibei

Thanks for investigating our report about the two council trees outside our property. This summer is another very dry and hot summer, we are now experiencing issues like difficulty in opening and closing the window and doors. The Geotechnical Survey that was provided to the council indicates that the Alder tree roots have reached the foundation of the house, trimming the tree won't be enough at this stage given how large the tree is. We hope the council can follow the instruction given in the Arboricultural report (which has also been provided to the council) and remove the trees soon.
