Road Pothole Damage

Reported via iOS in the Road, Pavement and PROW Issues category anonymously at 23:48, Saturday 14 May 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

Lots of potholes going down the hill, very dangerous for cyclists. I hit one on the way down today and it caused my bike tyre to blow and I came off my bike - nothing I could do. Please fix asap before someone gets seriously hurt

  • Sorry, how is no further action required? Genuinely I could have died following the puncture caused by potholes, I was fortunate a car was not coming in the other direction when I came off my bike. There are multiple on that stretch of road that could cause serious injuries to cyclists. I have not taken photos because the only way to do so would be to stop in the middle of what is quite a busy road. If you need photos though, I can stop the traffic and take photos.

  • The area has been inspected and assessed that there are no safety defects at investigatory levels present at this time. The investigatory levels for repair in the carriageway it is for localised immediate vertical deflections measuring 30mm deep or more in the trafficked directions. This does not mean that all defects that reach this level will be repaired, just that they may be considered for repair. The road will continue to receive regular inspections and any assessed safety defects identified on those will have remedial works raised.
