Change right of way at junction to resolve traffic issues
Reported via desktop in the Highway Enforcement category by Robert Johnson at 21:16, Wednesday 18 May 2022
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later
Incorrect traffic flow prioritiy. The majority of the traffic at this junction flows between Downe road and Shire Lane. This results in a very large build up of traffic trying to exit Shire Lane onto Downe Road west bound as visibilty is very restricted when exiting Shire Lane. There is very little traffic coming from Downe. If the road was configured so traffic flows uninterrupted between Downe Road and Shire Lane and traffic coming from Downe on Downe Road has to give way at that junction. It would eliminate the traffic jam in Shire Lane and help to reduce the excessive emmisions due to it. It would also reduce the journey times of all those that get delayed at this junction.

This report has been referred to our Traffic Management Team who are responsible for the way traffic is managed on Bromley's roads; including, but not limited to, implementing new road markings and signage in relation to road safety and parking; walking and cycling improvements, including identifying locations for new cycle racks and installing Vehicle Activated speed signs - however, please note that responsibility for enforcing speed limits rests with the Police.
Where requests are made for changes, our Traffic Management Team will consider all requests but often there is a need for a full investigation, planning and consultation within the local area particularly around proposed new traffic schemes, and any considerations must be balanced with borough-wide priorities. This report is now closed on FixMyStreet and our Traffic Management Team will consider this matter.State changed to: Internal referral
