Hello Simon,
I met up with you last year in April regarding the bush and ivy bank areas on Station Road, between Orchard Grove and Orpington Train Station, if you recall? It seems nothing has been done so far regarding the station area which is sprouting large thorn branches and is very dangerous, especially to sight impaired people. We are now coming to the end of June and still no-one from the houses or station have done anything.
Could you possibly contact your colleagues (I cannot get hold of anyone without a very long wait time) to contact the residents to drastically cut back the overhang and ensure they do this annually when the bushes start growing again (March/April time?). Also to remind Network Rail of their obligations too and ask that they cut the blackberry bushes back to the shortest possible length, to allow for growth without the need for them to re-trim in the following months.
It is extremely dangerous to walk up the very narrow pavement without being forced to stand in the road or be attacked by the thorns when another person is coming from the opposite direction. Furthermore, elderly people and those with footing and balance issues (including myself) often walk, looking down at the pavement and are unaware of these overhead growths until they get hit in the head, especially in windy weather.
I think this will need to be an annual task so rather than disturbing yourself, perhaps you can give me a direct number and name that I may contact – ready for next year’s moan 😊.
Many thanks to you and with kind regards,

This is still a problem and not just in this one spot. A lot of vegetation needs cutting back from this point upto Orpington station

Thank you for your additional comments
As the area covers multiple owners including unregistered land, LBB are currently awaiting quotes from the councils service providers and also for the owners to cut back their areas of responsibility. we would be grateful if you could add further photos of areas of concern after 28 days, and we can reassess and see who may be responsible.

Please advise what area(s) are unregistered as it seems a large area and unlike any council not to have claimed this. Towards Orpington station, surely this is either TFL or LBBC where vegetarian is obscuring the path. In any case someone has obviously maintained this in the past and should not be different now.

As noted above, LBB are currently following up with land owners where they can be identified and seeking quotes from the councils service providers for those areas where no owner can be identified.
