Double white lines

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction to Highway category anonymously at 17:27, Tuesday 5 July 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

Fed up with following inconsiderate drivers cutting this corner on the wrong side of the road Bromley bound round this bend, amazed there have been no head on crashes! Same goes for busses coming the other way due to parked cars beyond bus stop forcing busses in particular over the line in the other direction. Suggest double white lines be placed in the center of the road round the curve for H & S reasons.

  • An engineer has advised that the road is wide enough for traffic even if cars are parked. There is already double yellow lines at junctions and also on a straight section of the road. It is against our policy to apply parking restrictions on straight sections of the road except where it is absolutely impossible for any traffic to move due to parked cars.

  • I am not asking for parking restrictions (double yellow lines) or double white lines in the centre of a straight section of road. I am asking for double WHITE lines in the MIDDLE of the road on the bend which would NOT need to stop parking as the road as you say, is more than wide enough, but my point which was clearly made imo is that especially Bromley bound vehicles cut the corner using the opposite side of the road and double white lines ON THE BEND might at least stop fewer vehicles straying into the opposite carriageway dangerously. Perhaps your engineer should stand on the bend and watch for 15 minutes during the school rush hours! I see very near misses EVERY TIME I use the High Street at this location.
