My dog, (whilst on the lead) was bitten by a snake.
Reported via mobile in the Dog Related Incident category anonymously at 12:28, Thu 14 July 2022
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3676120.
He is ok fortunately but thought it might be worthwhile perhaps putting up a sign or two warning people to be aware, avoid long grass etc. The vet says ours is the 5th incident in Bromley Parks in the last few weeks.

Thank you for making this report. I am so glad that your dog is OK despite being bitten. I have two dogs of my own and have also alerted other dog owners. Any further details re: which park(s), what time of day and what type of snake would be greatly appreciated.

This happened at Kelsey Park, Beckenham at approximately 10.30am last Tuesday. The vet thinks it was an adder. Our boy was lucky we acted fast as he went downhill very quickly and the vet said another day or so he could have died. My husband was walking him but he was on the lead so it was not as though the dog was rummaging somewhere remote. This is the main reason I brought this to your attention as it was obviously close to the path and this time it was a dog, and next it could be a child. I don’t know what, if anything, you can do about it but I do think people should be urged to be vigilant.
