Dog-walkers not controlling their dogs

Reported via mobile in the Dog Related Incident category anonymously at 12:01, Wednesday 27 July 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

People walking their dogs in the woods across from our house, clearly can’t control their dogs, yet decide to let them off of their leads and they have chased our animals (mine and my neighbours) from their front gardens several times and tried to attack them. there are at least two groups of dog-walkers which we have this problem with, one group walks 10-15 dogs at a time all off of leads. this has been going on for months and my neighbours and I have told them about the problem but nothing has been resolved and we’ve all had enough.

  • This information has been passed to our Parks Security contractor to monitor the area and issue Fixed Penalty Notices where an offence is observed. Enforcing against dog offences is extremely difficult, signs can deter but are often ignored by irresponsible owners. If you are able to provide us with any information regarding specific locations, breed of dog, description of owner, timings of offences or any other further information that would be most helpful.

  • I’ve been asked to give more information on this issue to help solve it:

The location is beaconsfield road at the first entry to the woods on the right hand side.

The irresponsible dog owner comes usually between the hours of 11am and 1pm in a grey van.

Since making this original report there have been several more instances of her dogs being off leads chasing mine and neighbours cats trying to attack them and coming into our gardens. several people on the street have changed and yet nothing has changed.

I really appreciate the efforts so far by bromley council speaking to us about this and i look forward to something being done about this.

  • This is the dog walkers van with the out of control dogs. also they walk way over the allowed number of dogs and in all honesty the people on the road are all very sick of this issue.

Thank you for your help so far

  • Problems still not solved. Same dog walkers here every morning. Person with the grey dog seen in one of the pictures already on this thread, had her dog off lead yesterday and was in gardens chasing animals for ages. We’re all sick of it

  • Dear resident/customer. The original reason for this particular FMS report has been dealt with. The FMS system is primarily designed to be a method of reporting of new incidents. New incidents are automatically passed to our contractor to deal and the system is very efficient. By re-opening a fixed or closed FMS report this automatic passing to the contractor cannot happen, which may result in a delay in action being taken. The FMS system is not designed to be a blog and old closed reports should not be used as a short cut to report a new incident. As an aside we monitor the FMS reports to gauge where our problems are. Each FMS report is counted as one incident and if our customers re-use ‘fixed’ reports they prevent us from getting the clearest picture of where our problems are. I hope this helps. NLM. 12.09.2022.
