Metal protruding on edge of island
Reported via desktop in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 14:12, Thu 28 July 2022
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3713715.
On Saturday 23rd July I was on Tylney Road taking a right turn onto Widmore Road (A222). Upon taking this right turn I suddenly heard a hissing sound and found both the right rear and driver side tyres had been slashed. We found on the side of the island that there was a huge piece of metal sticking out of the island and this lead to the slashing of my tyres.
The postcode is BR1 2RG.
I was in the car with my very elderly mother in law and my two daughters for 2 hours waiting for tyres to be brought to me as it was Saturday evening and all local emergency tyre shops were closed. The cost of the tyres and the call out came to £340. Since this occurred due to the unkempt nature of this island, with a large piece of sharp metal protruding from the island it is only fair that I am compensated for this expense.
As we were waiting for our tyres to be fixed another individual also damaged the body of their vehicle on this same piece of metal on the island. In just 2 hours two cars were damaged, which is shocking so this ought to be fixed as soon as possible as it will only continue to cause damage.
We would like to be compensated of the £340.

I was driving in Bromley last night at 21.20 and made a right turn out of Tylney Road onto Widmore Road. When passing the traffic island which is still not fixed or sufficiently lit, I caught the jagged edge of the island and both my front and rear driver's side tyres were immediately deflated rendering the car undriveable. The cost for new tyres and roadside assistance was £174.98. Not to mention the jolt of collision caused neck and head pain and lightheadedness. I would also like to request compensation.
