Vandals climbing onto the roof of the Pavilion in Coney Hall Recreation Ground. In order to climb up they have pulled on the gas pipe, pulling it away from the wall and bending it.

Reported via desktop in the Pavilion/Cafe/Toilet Issue category anonymously at 16:52, Tue 2 August 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3725541.

Due to the risk of a gas leak SNG have been called today 02/08/2022. They have tested the connections and found a dangerous gas leak. They have therefore issued a safety warning notice and turned off the gas supply at the meter. The Landlords, Bromley Council are responsible for replacing the gas pipe. This gas pipe needs to be within protective conduit to prevent further damage. This is the second occasion of such vandalism in the past twelve months.

  • Today I have received an email telling me this issue has been resolved and the case closed. To my knowledge the pipe has been cut and blocked off but not repaired. I understand that contractors visited the site and submitted a quote for replacing the gas pipe and providing additional protection to the pipe to prevent further damage. Has this been done? I visited the site on Wednesday evening and it had not been done then which means there is no gas supply for when the nursery re-opens in three weeks time. Please can someone contact me, preferably Mike Jarman as there needs to be further consideration given to how we can stop kids climbing onto the pavilion roof.
