Many young trees and shrubs planted by the council in line with the cycle Lane works on Crofton road (between ormonde avenue and the mini roundabout with Crofton Lane) are dead or dying due to lack of water.

Thank you for your concern and efforts to water these young trees. It is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, the prolonged and unprecedented heat this year is having an adverse effect on some of the young trees --even trees planted more than one year ago. To combat this issue additional watering is being organised where possible. We have requested that these trees be added to the contractor's route, but they are very stretched. Wherever possible, simple weeding and mulching around the base of the trees using the grass immediately around the trees will also help increase their chances of survival and growth.
