Excessive speed

Reported via desktop in the Road Defect category anonymously at 15:28, Monday 15 August 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

Cars, motor bikes, lorries, vans, etc travel down Witham and Warwick Roads at speeds estimated up to 50 mph at all times of the day and night. The 20 mph speed limit makes no difference whatsoever, and the road width restrictions that were installed (without any resident consultation at all) do nothing but seemingly encourage reckless driving even more - my parked car has been hit twice now in a month by a hit-and-run. An Emergency Gate needs to be installed, preferably outside of Stewart Fleming School, to stop our roads being used as a race track and short cut. Speed humps will do nothing as shown everywhere else!

  • This report has been referred to our Traffic Management Team who are responsible for the way traffic is managed on Bromley's roads; including, but not limited to, implementing new road markings and signage in relation to road safety and parking; walking and cycling improvements, including identifying locations for new cycle racks and installing Vehicle Activated speed signs - however, please note that responsibility for enforcing speed limits rests with the Police.

Where requests are made for changes, our Traffic Management Team will consider all requests but often there is a need for a full investigation, planning and consultation within the local area particularly around proposed new traffic schemes, and any considerations must be balanced with borough-wide priorities. This report is now closed on FixMyStreet and our Traffic Management Team will consider this matter.
