Grass verge fenced off by private residents.
Reported via desktop in the Obstruction to Highway category anonymously at 16:59, Mon 29 August 2022
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3788105.
The grass verges have been fenced off on the verge that comes off Dura Den Close, and along Beckenham Place Park (road). This stops pedestrians being able to walk on that side of the road.
The land is not owned by the properties adjacent to the properties, so is presumably council land. Not only is this stopping people being able to use public land but also risks losing the land to adverse possession.
The fencing and chain link fencing should be removed.
The logs put along the road also cause issues for disabled residents and the elderly. They should also be removed.

The Council is currently conducting an investigation into the highway obstructions, with an enforcement officer recently attending the location to catalogue the various issues along both Beckenham Place Park & Westgate Road. We will be liaising with the Council's Highways, Traffic, and Legal departments in order to deal with the obstruction issues in the area, including how to legally protect the verges without residents having to resort to placing items without our permission. It is hoped works will be undertaken in a timely manner, allowing first for for advisory information to be sent to residents requesting for the removal of all obstructions. In the meantime, your understanding during this initial phase is appreciated. Thank you.
