Tree branches need prunning

Low lying tree branches are forcing pedestrians to step into the road or bent while passing under the branches. Whilst this Gimko Biloba is quite attractive, the branches are causing incomvenience to some people. Can a tree surgeon prune one or two branches? This way the tree will also gain impetus to grow higher.
