Inadequate/confusing signage for latest TW works

Reported via desktop in the Sign Missing/Damaged category anonymously at 16:50, Thursday 8 September 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

For the latest Thames Water works on Old Hill the signage is either not seen by a number of motorists by being poorly sited or is confusing with arrows pointing in the wrong direction; see attached photos taken 4am Thursday 8 September.

Whilst a number of vehicles (seen at the time of my walking past) a number were mounting the footway to squeeze past.....

Can the signage please be ‘enhanced’ and the footway blocked to protect pedestrians.

Thank you.

  • SITREP 07:30 Friday 9 September

Witnessed vehicles continuing to approach works and turning round, from the bottom of the hill (west end) and vehicle mounted footway and drove past having driven down the hill past additional ‘ROAD CLOSED’ sign.

Can additional measures please be put in place to safeguard pedestrians?

  • These works are now complete and the signs have been removed.

BUT there is another water leak (reported on FMS) near this one which Thames Water will need to investigate and fix ASAP so the issues of appropriate and adequate signage and measures to ensure the road is actually closed and errant motorists cannot bypass by mounting the footway and endanger pedestrians remains pertinent.....
