Pickhurst Rise - completely ineffective street cleaning

Reported via mobile in the Street Cleansing and Litter category anonymously at 08:49, Friday 30 September 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

First, the good news… Pickhurst Rise was cleaned this morning. Box ticked. The bad news… the cleaning was completely ineffective.

The lorry that cleans the gutters came very early, clearly due to lots of parked cars, many gutters weren’t cleaned. The pavement sweeper shot up the road at a rate of knots at 8.10am. Interestingly it had been on the pavement opposite the junction with Langley Way, but left a long trail of dirt (see photo).

So where do we go from here?

Please return and clean Pickhurst Rise properly, please clean the gutters properly, will need a man with a broom. Please pick up the litter on pavement and in gutters, that gets left after the bin collections on Thursday. Please properly sweep the dirt, leaves, detritus from pavement edges where the back onto residential front garden walls. Please remove the litter that sits for weeks in tree pits.

Put simply, please do job properly.

And don’t you dare marked this as ‘fixed’ until street has been cleaned.

Thank you.

  • Pavement wasn’t swept on Friday, gutters weren’t swept on Sunday - why is there no (effective) street cleaning please?

Posted anonymously at 14:31, Sunday 9 October 2022

  • Thank you for raising your concerns regarding the street cleansing along this road. We are sorry to hear that you have found cleansing standards to be less than satisfactory. A team returned this afternoon to carry out further street cleaning works. The road in its entirety was litter picked and both the channels and footpaths were mechanically swept. Due to parked cars not all areas of the carriageway could be reached. However, teams will continue over the coming scheduled sweeps to improve overall cleansing standards. The driver has been made aware of the trail that he left behind when sweeping the footpath. A separate team tackled a number of tree pits. This work will continue over the next few days. This report will now be closed.
