Overhanging vegetation (prickly shrubs) on LBB land
Reported via mobile in the Obstruction to Highway category anonymously at 16:31, Sat 1 October 2022
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3861343.
The public footpath on the north side of the recreational green that runs between Oakley Road and Gravel Road is blocked by vegetation from shrubs that are planted on the strip of land between the grass area and housing boundary fences. This is usually reported twice a year and the contractors cut back the new growth and leave the established ‘hedging’ still extending onto the footpath. Pedestrians now have to walk onto a muddy strip as a result of recent cable laying alongside the exposed side of the footpath. As this is LBB land and not that of the property owners can the hedging which consists of mainly holly, hawthorn and pyracantha (very prickly) be cut right back so the footpath is completely exposed with a little extra taken off so the new growth doesn’t start to immediately cover the footpath.

This has not been fixed. As is usual, it’s just the new growth since its last trim that has been cut back. This hedge needs dealing with by cutting it back so the pavement is exposed. Alternatively LBB could widen the existing foot way so pedestrians can pass by without brushing past the new growth of brambles, pyracantha and holly branches.

As of the time of writing LBB has not made such contact that you refer to in your last update closing down a report that still requires remedial action

The hedge has been cut back to allow easier passage for now, but we will be revisiting the site soon to complete a hard cutback, on this visit the hedge will be cut back along its entire length behind the path edge to allow full use of the footpath.
