Pothole - exposed deep edges around drain on Shire Lane, near Farthing Street

Reported via desktop in the Road Defect category anonymously at 10:53, Friday 18 November 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

Despite numerous reports of this pothole, by members of the public, this has still not been fixed. As a result, after hitting this pothole yesterday, my tyre burst. This left me stranded for 2 hours, waiting for the RAC. Luckily managed to limp the car onto Westerham Road. This is totally unacceptable as this incident was avoidable - Bromley Council already know of this issue.

  • Hello, you reported on Thursday 24th November that action had been taken to resolve the problem of the large pot hole surrounding one of the drains in the road along Shire Lane (Biggin Hill/Keston bound). The photos in my original report show the drain in question, which is located beyond the Lower Hook Farm Business Park entrance, but before the Farthing Street junction. However, the pot hole had still not been repaired when I drove to work to Saturday 26th.

  • My car hit a large , deep pothole at side of Shire Lane travelling towards Downe Road at 6pm on 22/11/22. My tyre burst immediately and has damaged the wheel rim. I’m really annoyed to see that a week later this pot hole remains unfixed. In daylight I can see that the pot hole has been marked with paint markings. This is a busy , narrow lane and even if sighted you cannot avoid the pothole without placing your vehicle at risk of collision with oncoming vehicles. I have photos of damage , the pothole and receipt for damage repairs as regard Bromley Councils failure to maintain this road adequately in a timely manner as the responsible party.

  • The location has been re-attended with further works completed.
