High number of dangerous potholes

Reported via desktop in the Road Defect category anonymously at 16:47, Friday 3 March 2023

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4280316.

Potholes in Barnet Wood Road have previously been reported ( https://fix.bromley.gov.uk/ report/ 4187551 on 30 Jan 2023), but nothing has been done to fix them yet. Yesterday morning, during my commute to work, I hit one of them to allow the passage of an oncoming vehicle. Despite driving at low speed, the depth of the pothole was such that it caused my front tyre to burst. I had to call a recovery vehicle to assist. The tyre could not be fixed, which meant I had to purchase and fit a new one. I would like to know how to claim compensation and I urge the council to take immediate action. Thanks.

  • Some markings appeared earlier this week around some potholes; however, no further action has been taken and the markings are now being washed away by the rain. I am still waiting for a reply from Bromley council on how to make a compensation claim.

  • Any request for compensation relating to an issue on a Bromley maintained highway must be processed via an insurance claim process. Bromley currently have a shared Insurance Service with Sutton Council and an online claim form can be completed and submitted via Sutton’s website: https://www.sutton.gov.uk/ info/ 200436/ customer_services/ 1146/ insurance_service/ 2
