Many thanks for bringing this to our attention and my apologises for the delay in replying, I've only been able to update you since receiving further information last week. This is a Permissive Bridleway Shire Lane from North End Road to Farnborough Hill and is not maintainable in the same way as other public right of ways. The Council does not have a duty to maintain permissive bridleways and footpaths, our priority is with the actual public rights of way across the whole 58 square mile Borough, when these have been dealt with and if funds permit, we can then carry out maintenance on the permissive bridleways and footpaths. I have a plan for this section which is to use a tractor with a flail to hard cut back all the foliage within the above section, this will open up the bridleway in width and in height and make a huge difference. The problem is two things, first the time of year and the tractors that we can use are all busy with other duties dealing with the harvest at this time of year. The second is the bird nesting season which we are currently in, this finishes at the end of August and starts again at the end of February. This cut back will take place after the leaves have fallen in December or January to minimise the mess that flailing causes. My apologises I'm unable to be more positive with my reply, but we do have a plan in place. This enquiry will now be closed and thanks again for bringing this to our attention. Kind regards, JPR - 07/08/2023
