Branches over hanging driveway
Reported via desktop in the Tree Requires Pruning category anonymously at 21:20, Fri 2 June 2023
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4625439.
Fruit from tree along with bird droppings causing damage to cars. Two trees at this location are not looking healthy and would ask that you drastically prune back.

Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified arboricultural officer has examined the tree in question and concluded that no works are required at this time. This decision has been made in line with Our Tree Management Strategy and Council policy which can be found on the Council’s website. Therefore I am sorry but on this occasion the Council will not be undertaking any works to the tree.
As the property owner you are entitled by common law to prune any branches that overhang your airspace back to your property boundary. Before undertaking any works to a council-owned tree in order to prune back to your property boundary you must:
1) Contact the Tree Team in the Planning Division on 020 8313 4516 or trees@bromley.gov.uk if you live in a conservation area; are not sure whether you do or not; or the tree has a Tree Preservation Order on it. Some trees are protected so you must gain permission before undertaking any works to them.
Whether you need permission or not you must also:
1) Contact the Arboricultural team on 020 8313 4471 should your contractor need to climb the Council tree to undertake the works.
2) Ensure that all works to prune the tree are undertaken to arboricultural standard - BS3998: (2010) Recommendations for Tree Work. All pruning cuts must be executed to a professional standard with no rips, tears, stubs, or other practices that could be detrimental to the health of the tree or users of the highway.
3) Dispose of the arisings at your own cost once the works are completed.
Once again we are sorry that we are not in a position to undertake the works that you request of us.
