Street tree causing problems: branches tangling with phone wires; pavement lifting; my front wall is now disrupted

Reported via desktop in the Tree roots lifting pavement category anonymously at 19:11, Monday 10 July 2023

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4771283.

Tree has become too large for current location, too close to my home - I am concerned roots may disrupt foundations as well as front wall. Branches are entangled with phone lines - may damage the latter Could you replace it with a new, young tree?

  • Thank you for your message of 25.10.23 I was away from home when any work may have been done - I can see no improvement in the daylight to my 1st floor front bedroom, phone wires are still tangled in the branches. I think a few lower small branches MAY have been removed, (I am not sure), however all other issues remain as far as I can see. What work has been done on this tree?

  • Thank you for your comments. The works raised for the tree were a crown lift. The works undertaken to this tree are consistent with the instructions to our contractor and relate to an identified health & safety or highway obstruction issue, please note that works beyond that to reduce the tree size to allow more light, prune clear of telephone lines etc will not be taken as outlined in our Tree Management Strategy (https://www.bromley.gov.uk/ downloads/ file/ 3334/ tree_management_strategy_2016-2020)
