Unfinished works coned off ages ago but not yet dealt with

Reported via mobile in the Pavement Defect category by Christine Grace at 15:17, Fri 25 August 2023

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4927558.

I reported tree roots had damaged pavement and the road many weeks ago. Council arranged for workmen to attend but all they did was shovel a small heap of tarmac over part of it. Totally inadequate. Then weeks later they placed cones around the damage and the tree but nothing has been done since. Before I escalate the matter to Gareth Bacon's office via Judi Ellis I would appreciate an explanation.

  • This area was inspected 14 days ago following receipt of a report regarding the condition of the footway, and the appropriate repairs were ordered. The area has been guarded until works can begin, as the tree roots causing the issue require specialist attention to prevent a negative impact on both the trees health and anchoring.

The tarmac on the carriageway you mention was present at the time of the inspection. This repair has been carried out to remedy the edge that had formed as a result of the concrete carriageway being lifted by the trees roots.

The repairs to the footway have been attached to your enquiry, which will be updated as works progress. We are unable to give accurate timeframes at present due to the unprecedented levels of minor works that are outstanding with our contractor.

Thank you for your patience in the meantime.
