Conifer work undertaken on 37A

Reported via mobile in the Flytip category anonymously at 10:18, Sunday 17 September 2023

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5001878.

It appears that 37A address has had some conifer tree work carried out, as it is now a lot more visible from the park footpath than previously. There incidentally are lots of freshly cut conifer branches on park ground directly behind this address that were not there previously. So it is assumed that the resulting waste from the conifer work has just been dumped on the land behind by the resident or their contractor. This is flytipping on public ground and when dry will be a significant fire risk to a number of properties including 37A.

  • This is an obvious attempt at a land grab, the conifers have been laid in a way as to make a fence. The owners have extended their garden onto council owned land.

  • The resident has been spoken to regarding this matter and will arrange for all branches & cuttings to be removed from Council land. Due to the amount there, they have requested time to arrange for this to be carried out.

  • In addressing the situation at 37A, it's crucial to consider that the owner's actions in clearing the fallen trees and tidying the land behind his house do not appear to contravene any laws, particularly given the context of the area. This land, neglected for several decades, has been a subject of concern due to the council's lack of maintenance, contributing to safety and security issues in the neighborhood.

The owner's initiative in cleaning up this area, while commendable, also aligns with a broader responsibility towards ensuring a safe environment, especially with the recent addition of triplets to his family. His efforts to secure his property, demonstrated by addressing the damages from break-ins and the recent vandalism of his CCTV system, underscore a commitment to safety rather than any intent to flout legal boundaries.

Moreover, the consistent maintenance efforts by the owner, observed by regular dog walkers and local residents, including cleaning walkways and providing salt for safety, further indicate his respect for communal spaces and adherence to communal responsibilities. Given these factors, it's reasonable to believe that his actions are not only lawful but also driven by a genuine concern for the well-being of his family and the community.
