Thank you for your enquiry. The clear up process following the three recent storms is causing delays to the completion of the works raised for this enquiry. The contractor is in hand to visit site to undertake works to crown reduce the tree.

A contractor came on Tuesday 02nd of April, they undertook work on two trees nearest St. John's road, but haven't undertaken work on the tree which was in need of the most attention, shown in the picture in this report.

Hello, a branch from this tree has just fallen and injured somebody. Please can this be addressed immediately - its unacceptable that this has been ongoing since January when it's such a hazard to the public.
Separately there is an ongoing insurance claim due to the damage these trees are causing and it has been acknowledged that these are now causing damage to adjacent properties. This should now be given priority.

Hello, please can we have an update? It has been a month since this was chased up and 'prioritised', however another month doesn't feel like priority.

We have had builders inspect the roof of 9 st johns (which this tree overhangs) and they have confirmed that this overgrown tree is the cause of a number of issues and damage to the roof of our property - tile damage, blocked/cracked drains, squirrel access into the roof etc. A council claim was put in earlier this year due to damage by a neighbouring tree to our property (and the council agreed it was the caused) so we will now need to put in a second claim as a result of this one. Neither tree has been trimmed back at all since 2017!
Seperately - numerous reports have also been made about large branches breaking off and being a danger / injuring people walking below.
I am genuinely at a loss to how this is still not been taken seriously or prioritised!

Please note that this tree is causing significant damage and risk to this property & those living in the area. The roots are also impacting the pavement which is now bulging & and a hazard to those walking by.
Please can someone urgently attend to this issue as this will be escalated shortly.
Thank you.

Hello, is there an update on this? We are now having to have our gutters cleaned for thr second time in a month because the leaves from this tree are clogging them and causing leaks in multiple flats that this tree overhangs. It has been 10 months since the issue was first log and this is unacceptable.

Please accept our apologies for the delays, the works have been taken off our incumbent contractor and issued to a third party contractor for completion. We envisage that the contractor will take 6-8 weeks to complete them.

We appreciate the response and now having an eta, however due to seasonality the leaves are dropping from the tree and blocking the guttering on a fortnightly basis - which is costing us £100s to rectify. Please can this be prioritised, before any more costs are incurred as a result of this tree not being pruned?

Hello, after incurring significant to costs to repair the holes the squirrels have made in our roof (as a result of them being able to gain access from the overgrown tree - as was confirmed as being the reason in a historic claim), they have now created new holes and have AGAIN been able to access the inside of the rood and started causing damage to the property.
We will now need to incur more costs to both A) remove the squirrels from the roof alcove, and B) repair the holes to prevent this happing a third time.
This pruning request needs to be expedited and given priority, as we have incurred c£3k worth of damage now as a result of this unpruned tree which is unacceptable, especially we have notified the council on multiple occasions regarding developments and they have been aware of these issues for so long (12+ months).

In addition to the above - please note that some flats in the building are experiencing leaks due to the gutters filling up at a rapid rate (which we are now in addition to paying for a roof repair having to maintain & upkeep by paying for these to be regularly cleaned.)
Please ensure that this is at the top of the priority list - as the impact on the building & the individuals managing it is causing financial and emotional stress.

*HIGH IMPORTANCE / LEGAL ACTION* - Response & timeline to be received within 7 working days (due by the 3/12/2024)
As the thread & timeline below highlights - due to negligence on Bromley councils behalf in their failure to maintain care of the tree we now for the 2nd time have a rodent infestation within our property that is of a serious health & safety risk along with significant damage to the building.
Please respond with a clear & detailed outline of when the tree will be address before legal action is initiated.

This tree still hasn't been pruned and branches have dropped on and injured a person. Is there any update on this?

As requested multiple times - please share a confirmed date as to when this will be completed. This was highlighted over 11 months ago & is causing significant damage to properties & is of a risk to the general public due to negligence on behalf of Bromley Council. (Confirmed in writing on the council's behalf.)
Please respond with a confirmed date.

Thank you for your comments. Please accept our apologies for the delays. The works raised to remove regrowth from the Lime have been taken off our incumbent contractor and issued to a third party contractor who is making progress working through the backlog of works. We envisage that the third party contractor will undertake the works soon.

Thank you for your reply.
Please note that 'soon' is not specific & has no specific time frame - we are requesting a month / date / time.
Please confirm this - we are approaching 12months of chasing. This is negligence on the councils behalf.

The 3rd party contractor will have a schedule of works - please confirm where this tree is listed.
Reply is required by the 2nd Jan.

Thanks for your reply - however, there must be a schedule of works & or priority list.
Please update us as we have now reached 12 months of chasing / reporting (originally filed on the 15th January 2024 as above.) & a rapidly deteriorating situation. (Filling gutters, a squirrel infestation that is a health & safety risk, and damage to the roof) as well as the general public.

Thanks for the reply - but my question is as follows:
'is the photo above & attached, the start of the work / pollarding of this tree'?
It appears that the tarmac & roots are being addressed, but want to ensure that the full tree is being considered given that we have been requesting this for 12 months.
Please can you confirm the following? 1 - Is this the start of the work? 2 - What is this work tackling? 3 - How has this been prioritised?
Many thanks

Thank you for your comments. Tree works are prioritised according to the risks posed and dead and dangerous tree's will always take precedence over routine maintenance to remove regrowth, it is not to say they are less important but they are prioritised differently. I am sorry we do not give time frames for individual jobs given the physical volume of works raised each day. The contractor has the works and will arrange for a team to undertake them as a priority.

The contractor attended on Monday, but appears they haven't carried out the works in full, I assume they will be returning to complete the job? The canopy is still very large and in need of cutting back further, the branches overhanging the adjacent building are still present causing the owner continued issues as per their comments before, and lower branches at face level haven't been cut back. Please could you confirm when they will returning to complete the job they were contracted to carry out.

Hello,
This has not been fixed as per the above comment. The branches are still overhanging the neighbouring property meaning that rodent infestations will continue (as has been detailed above), as well as lower branches at face level not being cut back. Photo attached.
The contractor also confirmed that they would be returning to complete the works when spoken to last week.
Please can you reopen and request the contractor return ASAP as this issue has now been ongoing for over a year.

Thank you.
