Drain cover has sunk

Reported via mobile in the Road Defect category by John Marshall at 23:55, Thursday 29 February 2024

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5651521.

The drain cover on this stretch of road has sunk and has formed a dangerous pot hole. This drain has been fixed numerous times but keeps reoccurring. Could you please make a permanent repair and fix it before there is an accident as drivers swerve to avoid it.

  • We have investigated this report and assessed it to be the responsibility of British Telecom. We have therefore referred the enquiry to British Telecom. Future issues with BT infrastructure can be reported direct to BT via their subsidiary Openreach: help-and-support/ damage-health-and-safety

  • I think we are getting our wires crossed. Going up Jewels Hill towards Addington, past Highams farm there is a dip in Sheepbarn Lane. On the edge of the dip, going out there is a double drain cover/grating. (Nothing to do with BT). This has sunk again, forming a pothole, which is dangerous as you swerve to avoid it. Hope this makes it clear.

  • This is still raised today and very unsafe. This is not a BT cover but a drain cover.

  • Thank you to anon for raising and posting a picture. This situation is very dangerous. A cone has now been put on the affected area which is good as deep enough to cause damage to tyres/vehicle. However, this is now risking accidents. The other evening a car obviously didn't see the cone in the dark and swerved into the other lane at last minute nearly hitting vehicle in front.

    Still open, via questionnaire
