Manhole cover surrounds disintegrated

Reported via Android in the Road Defect category anonymously at 09:37, Fri 22 March 2024

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5751791.

2 Manhole surrounds on the roundabout are defective. The blocks surrounding them are missing/broken.

Unsurprisingly a previous tarmac bodge has failed, for the umpteenth time. Please do a proper lasting repair using blocks as originally designed. Failing that why not take the whole sorry state out and tarmac entirely.

The whole High Street is failing!

  • I reported the speed table at the war memorial end 10 months ago and nothing has been actioned. All of the speed tables along the entire stretch of the high street are not fit for purpose and are making residents lives a misery. I don’t understand why we appear to be being ignored but the council are perfectly happy with council tax rises and the Zone K parking permit raising from £100 to £150. I cannot enjoy an evening in the living room or sleep undisturbed with the amount of noise and vibration transferred into my flat due to these road defects which have been steadily getting worse and worse the longer these issues go unresolved.

  • Still no signs of interest in fixing this by Bromley Council. Should I escalate to a Ward Councillor? At least they could be useful in directing traffic around the problem.

  • "Working towards a date in January" Unless you have a firm plan to achieve this I'd say you are bluffing, and just kicking this down the road again.

If you have no intention of fixing this just say so.

  • Now three hundred days old, I am raising this as the next applicable Council Committee meeting, to discover who is delaying this and work and why. The current temporary repair made a few days ago is already failing.

  • January came. January went. The contractors may have been "working towards" fixing it in January but didn't. The 10th month of inaction.

Can we please have a new date the contractors are limping towards. This issue is coming up to being one year old and really needs some firm action from Bromley Council.
