Horses and riders still annoying families, children and dogs
Reported via mobile in the Public Right of Way footpath category anonymously at 12:30, Mon 3 June 2024
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6054756.
The riders from the Eynsford park stables are still riding their horses in the park and throughout Crofton and Sparrow woods. This is not a bridleway and when politely told, they swear at you. This has been going on for months and months

Encountered two riders on the path in the woods backing on to Eynsford Rec. When told they shouldn't be riding in these woods they became defensive and aggressive. They were riding large powerful horses not little ponies. Please do something about this. They know they are not supposed to ride in these woods but continue to do it anyway. Someone is going to get seriously hurt.

Again, 23 July, a rider on a horse in Petts Wood rec. Forcing the old disabled lady off the path with her dog. When is this going to be stopped?

The woods are being used more than ever by the riders from the stables. I saw one giving a riding lesson in the park and woods this week. Horse crap everywhere through the woods. Dogs eat this stuff and can get very ill or worse. We pick up after our dogs but apparently heaps of horse poo is ok. "If your dog has eaten horse manure and begins to show symptoms of ivermectin toxicity, they should be seen by a vet immediately. Without prompt veterinary attention, ivermectin poisoning can be fatal."

This rider thought it acceptable to canter towards us on the main path through the woods (from st Thomas's drive down towards Bromley Common). She only stopped because we were in the way and we were frantically trying to get our dogs out of the way. She refused to go back where she came from and continued walking past us even though we still had two very scared dogs barking and running scared

Not a day goes by where I don't see the horses in the rec and in the woods. It's worse than ever. Cantering through the narrow paths again yesterday and today. These steel barriers are at every entrance to the woods except from the recreation ground, why can't these be installed?
