Unhealthy tree overhanging our property from Council land

Reported via iOS in the Tree Requires Pruning category anonymously at 13:01, Mon 22 July 2024

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6260333.

There is a mature Poplar tree growing on Council land behind our house at 11 Autumn Grove (BR1 5AT). This tree has previously been reported as unsafe - see reference 2914521. from August 2021. This tree continues to be a cause for concern because the main trunk overhangs our property at an acute angle. Since the previous report the tree has grown and is now almost touching our conservatory. We believe the tree to be unwell as it frequently sheds small branches and has already stated to drop its leaves. We have already had to have our gutters cleaned twice this season due to the amount of detritus falling from this tree. Kindly send a crew to cut back or pollard this tree. In it’s current state it is potentially a threat to health and safety and is curtailing our enjoyment of our garden.

  • Apologies - the map pin was dropped in the wrong place; it should have been dropped in the green space directly behind #11.

  • There has been no update for several weeks. It looks to me that the tree is dying as it has already dropped about 1/2 of its leaves and it is only mid-August. The tree has grown at an angle that overhanging our garden - should it come down or drop any large branches it could cause considerable damage to our conservatory and to our garden wall (which has local historic value).

  • 8 weeks since submitting the report and no action has been taken - no one has contacted us and no one has been out to look at the tree (to our knowledge). Just a bit frustrating.

  • The tree has already lost all its leaves (while others are still leafy) and is literally within inches of touching the conservatory. I have no idea why no-one from LBB has been out to look at it. It is a menace and a threat to property and life. HEY BROMLEY!!!! Maybe you could send someone to cut back or take out this tree?

  • Although I have been assured that the tree will be felled this has not happened yet. The tree is now collapsing and is resting on our garden wall - otherwise it would have fallen completely over. Hopefully this will soon be taken care of.

  • Please accept our apologies for the delays. The works have been raised to be completed under our 28 days standard working practices and due to be completed by the end of the month, which are currently with the contractor who will book them in to be completed as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued patience.

  • So happy! The contractor arrived today and felled the tree. The workers were polite, knowledgeable and efficient. Thank you LBB for taking care of this. It took some time but for me it was worth the wait.
