Overhanging trees

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6275477.

Overhanging trees from Scadbury park dangerously growing at an acute angle over the swing, trampoline and shed. Danger of snapping under their own weight and causing injury or damage to my property.

  • Thank you for the further info. Please note that as outlined in our Tree Management Strategy (tree-management-strategy-2023-to-2027 (bromley.gov.uk) the Council will not prune trees in relation to the following:

    • Branches overhanging properties. Residents have the right to exercise their right under common law to prune back branches to their property boundary, withal arising disposed of by the resident. Pruning should be carried out following discussion with one of the Council’s Tree Officers and completed to the standard set out in BS3998:2010 Tree Work;

    However, it is noted that their are dead and damaged branches from the Ash overhanging boundary which works have been raised and issued to the contractor which is in hand to be completed to remove dead/damaged.

  • Your contractor only cut trees in over next doors garden (Lullingstone crescent) not mine. Can you send them back to do the job properly.

  • Only cut trees in next doors garden not mine. He also put in a report so your contractor only did half the job required. Please send them back as pictures I’ve sent you are exactly the same as before as nothing was cut over my garden.

  • Thank you for your comments. As details above, in line with our tree strategy, we do not cut boundary overhang only works on the grounds of health and safety which in this instance was dead/damaged branches. A site visit is organised to investigate works undertaken which you will be updated afterwards.
