Street Lights

Reported via desktop in the Light Not Working category anonymously at 10:31, Monday 29 July 2024

We wish to report nuisance lighting from two very brightly lit lampposts overlooking our property. They are both situated close to each other in Warwick Close, off Goddington Lane BR6 9DS. The first lamppost at the entry to Warwick Close directly overlooks our downstairs bedroom and shines extremely brightly into the window. The second lamppost is situated close by to the first and is located directly against the side fence to our garden, which lies lower than the pavement. This also shines extremely brightly into our main living area downstairs, our bedroom upstairs and over our garden on that side.

We recently moved into our house and are finding the brightness of these lampposts very distracting, disturbing and irritating not only to our sleep but to our general living from dusk to dawn. We find that as we look out of our windows and spend time in the garden our eyes are dazzled by these lights.

We would be most grateful if the two lampposts could be dimmed and some form of shield fixed around the lights to prevent this disturbing glare.

  • Firstly, thank you very much for responding so promptly to our request. Unfortunately the issue is not yet fully resolved. If both the lampposts involved had the shields that were attached yesterday extended that may improve matters greatly. A shield fixed to the right hand side of the lamp head of the first lamppost (our downstairs bedroom window is towards the right of the lamppost) and an additional shield to cover the length of the side of the lamp head of the second post (the light still shines brightly beyond the end of the current shield) should reduce the light pollution to a bearable degree. We trust this can be done. Thank you again. Mr & Mrs Bagley
