Barriers around drain cover / by HomeBargains

Reported via mobile in the Road Defect category anonymously at 06:55, Tuesday 6 August 2024

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6320850.

There are barrier which have been place around the damaged drain cover on Sevenoaks Way / Cray Avenue by HomeBargains which have been there now for 6weeks so now causing build up of traffic on Sevenoaks Way so there’s traffic jams all day everyday . It doesn’t look like I that the work has been complete and so could this be looked into please it shouldn’t take this long to cement or tarmac around a drain cover the road is a well used road which needs the traffic to flow . If the work is complete then the barriers need removing plus all the traffic diversion sign all on the pavements by each set of lights need removal.

  • Our contractor has been notified to take the appropriate action.

  • Just wondering how much longer this is going to take, surely it would make sense to complete while schools are on holiday and traffic is lighter, as the previous post mentioned these barriers have been in place for weeks.

  • Bromley Council, please update! Has the contractor been fined for this? This has been like this for months now without any work being carried out! It is causing major traffic disruption.

Posted anonymously at 12:25, Friday 6 September 2024

  • Why is this still not sorted?? One of the busiest junctions in the area!

  • You still haven't done a bloody thing with this problem ! What is going on ? This causes traffic every day and makes people's journeys more difficult. It's been there for months you incompetent fools !

Posted anonymously at 20:17, Tuesday 10 September 2024

  • Still an ongoing issue with nothing appearing to be done about it. Please can this get sorted as it's by a very busy set of traffic lights.

Posted anonymously at 20:23, Tuesday 10 September 2024

  • Seriously thinking about moving my business out of the area as nothing being done when its so clearly causing hell for drivers.

Posted anonymously at 20:34, Tuesday 10 September 2024

  • This issue is causing major disruption and dangerous driving. There are no warning signs on the approach to the actual barriers in the road so cars are driving towards them too fast and are suddenly swerving into the right hand lane. The barriers are also not fit for purpose because the collapsed manhole is exposed to road users.

Posted anonymously at 21:24, Tuesday 10 September 2024

  • It needs sorting out please, as trying to go straight across just after the traffic lights and just before the Home Bargains entrance on the left is very stressful indeed.

Posted anonymously at 21:30, Tuesday 10 September 2024

  • This nearly causes a few accidents daily, even with pedestrians trying to cross. Will be reporting Bromley council on the Gov website if it’s not sorted this week. Have all the evidence and updates they’ve posted.

  • I have escalated this as there is likely to be a serious incident if its not resolved soon.

Posted anonymously at 22:17, Tuesday 10 September 2024

  • Still no work done. This is absolutely ridiculous. I’m going to contact BBC London and tell them about the council’s total lack of response to this major hazard!

  • This is a concern 6 weeks and absolutely nothing done just causing lots of issues.

Posted anonymously at 11:09, Wednesday 11 September 2024

  • The lack of response from the council to all of the above reports is so unprofessional and rude. This is a safety issue.

  • Could we have an official update please? Thanks,

Posted anonymously at 08:47, Thursday 12 September 2024

  • This has been like this for many weeks now, and nothing is happening. Why is nothing being done? It’s only a matter of time before there is a serious road accident.

  • We have been trying to investigate the ownership of the cover and chamber, but unfortunately it is of non-standard size and there are issues with the concrete chamber itself.

We were originally told it related to the culvert running under the junction (which would make it LBB's to maintain) but on lifting the covers what was found didn't appear culvert related but containing pipe/cables of non-typical colouring (not the standard utility colour coding).

We have been trying all the Utilities trying to find an owner, which has taken some time, but have now completely drawn a blank from them. Unfortunately that means it reverts back to us, and we have requested a quote for repair and replacement by a specialised company. Once we receive that we will authorise the works to proceed as soon as possible.

  • This has been like this for months and no one appears to be doing anything. This is a high risk accident point for cars

Posted anonymously at 21:51, Thursday 12 September 2024

  • This is rediculous.... Even before this problem the layout is wrong this just adds to the stupidity. Seriously what do we pay road tax

Posted anonymously at 09:47, Saturday 14 September 2024

  • This is worse now than ever before it’s been there since June and the jobs still no where near completion. It’s ridiculous and causing traffic build up all day every day.

  • True - it seems that since the council have finally admitted that it needs to be sorted by them, they have cordoned it off more (taking up more space) but still work is yet to start. When is this going to actually get sorted?!

Posted anonymously at 06:47, Wednesday 2 October 2024

  • This is causing considerable traffic tailbacks from the Springvale Retail Park side of Sevenoaks Way. As traffic is restricted to one one only approaching Home Bargains. See attached.

  • Subsequent to our last update an email to all Utilities notifying them of our intention to permanently fill this chamber has seen a Utility company step forward and say they belive it may be theirs. They are carrying out investigations and are due to notify us of the outcome Monday 07/10.
