Water Stopcock tarmacked over.
Reported via desktop in the Road Defect category anonymously at 11:34, Wednesday 7 August 2024
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6326971.
When Main Road was re-surfaced - the contractors tarmacked over our water main stop cock. We never noticed - until we wanted to turn our water off recently.

Thank you for your enquiry. Please can we ask you provide more information or evidence on this as we have checked Google Streetview images of this location before the surfacing was carried out and can not find any evidence of stop cocks being in the carriageway? Using Goggle Streetview we have found stop cocks for neighbouring properties within the drive/ crossover areas which are not highway.

Hi There , Our stopcock was installed at the edge of the road by Thames Water 2- 3 years ago as they were unable to find one on our property. Original idea was to include a meter in the same location - to date this has not progressed. As mentioned before road contractors tarmacced it over. Our street number is 349.

Thank you for your additional comments. We have attached a photo from Google Streetview taken March 2021 which was the last time the road was photographed before the resurfacing was carried out, this only shows a pothole at this location and no stop valve. If your stop valve has been installed after this date we wouldn't know where in the highway this would be as there is no evidence of it being there, Thames Water would need to come out and either excavate the area themselves or provide markings on site where they believe the valve is so we can excavate on their behalf. If you have any pictures of the valve being in the highway before the surfacing this would help with any future investigation. Unfortunately the council can't do anything else until we are provided with further information.

I have provided additional information as requested by informing you the stop cock location is shown in your last image. Please advise when work will be undertaken - its dragged on too long already. It is not my fault your contractor failed to protect the location when working. As i suggested before - how about actually calling me to discuss - this system is so drawn out. You can reach me on 07710-216611
