Thank you for your enquiry. please note that as outlined in our Tree Management Strategy (tree-management-strategy-2023-to-2027 (bromley.gov.uk) the Council will not prune trees in relation to the following:
• Branches overhanging properties. Residents have the right to exercise their right under common law to prune back branches to their property boundary, withal arising disposed of by the resident. Pruning should be carried out following discussion with one of the Council’s Tree 10 Officers and completed to the standard set out in BS3998:2010 Tree Work;
• Lack of light: there is no ‘Right to light’ (or shade) in British law.
However, it is noted that branches are in conflict with your boundary fence and works have been raised and issued to the contractor (with your contact details to gain access) to cut back and lift branches in conflict which is in hand to be completed.

No action has been taken, neither has everyone been out to look at it. It still hangs over onto my fence. It is a large tree that requires professional cutting. It should not be on me to pay someone to cut the tree to stop it hanging over onto my fence & garden.

Please accept our apologies, the contractor has incorrectly closed down the enquiry as works completed. Whilst we do not cut boundary overhang in line with policy, the contractor should of cut back branches in conflict with and lifted off the boundary fence which the contractor has been issued with a service failure and in hand to visit site to rectify uncompleted works.
