Abusive and threatening horse riders breaking bylaws

Reported via mobile in the Public Right of Way footpath category anonymously at 00:38, Thu 15 August 2024

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6358098.

6 horses and their riders/owners, (local riding school or stables?) Breaking the bylaws and violating the control order in place for keston ponds on fishponds road. I asked the first three to leave, then another 3 turned up plus riders and adult walkers. All adults became abusive and threatening, when I confronted them a second time. Young lad and his girlfriend was fishing right next to them, he was threatened. They also blocking the road entrance/exit to the ponds area forcing people to navigate around or between them. And encouraging their horses to defecate in the water, which I assume the horses have worming medication which is toxic.

  • This information has been passed to our Parks Security contractor to monitor the area and issue Fixed Penalty Notices where an offence is observed. Enforcing against dog offences is extremely difficult, signs can deter but are often ignored by irresponsible owners. If you are able to provide us with any information regarding specific locations, breed of dog, description of owner, timings of offences or any other further information that would be most helpful.
